Within the Silent Vast
Another day in the long adventure closed.
We open to the mysteries of night
On whose deep breast we have long reposed
And do not fear, failing the inner sight,
The beings who await us in our sleep.
For always the protection guards and guides
If ever in our hearts the name we keep.
In the forefront of our consciousness abides
The beauty of a still haunting face
Whose smile brought heaven down to marry earth,
Awoke the soul and set the heart apace
To find the meaning of this long rebirth.
Although predestined we must work to find
In the darkness as in the quiet hours
The Self behind the forefront of the mind
That welcomes all when the sentry lowers
For an instant the psychic guard, the eye
That seeing all can pierce the darkest gloom
And send the errant thought reply
To seek admittance elsewhere, here no room
Exists for grey nocturnal reveries
Or replay of desire-moments past
With their train of old iniquities.
Our peace now found within the silent vast.
